Woodbridge Earth Day Celebration 2024

Come join us Saturday, April 27th from 10am to 5pm in Woodbridge Town Center for our Woodbridge Earth Day celebration!!! Hosted by the Woodbridge Ad Hoc Sustainability Committee and the Woodbridge Town Library, this event promises a variety of different activities and attractions suitable for all ages. The event kicks off with a 10am welcome by our First Selectmen Mica Cardozo, but you can sign up and come early at 9am for a FREE Taiji class on the Town Green led by local wellness guru Bill Banick.  Get ready for all different ways to make your life greener.  We hope everyone will leave that day, finding at least 1 new thing they can do to help celebrate the Earth.

Ready your old or broken items for Repairing, Reusing or Recycling! We will be hosting secure electronics recycling, paper shredding, mattress recycling, textile recycling, Goodwill donation, and teaming up with many community organizations collecting charitable donations.  If you have items that need a quick fix, check out the Fix-It station. Try some local tasty treats at the food trucks and relax with a drink while listening to our local musicians on the Town Green while enjoying a local beer or wine at the Beer Garden. Do not forget to make your way to the Center Gym to be entertained and amazed by Cyril the Sorcerer, the Merlin of environmental Magic. He will teach the magical secrets that people of all ages can use to be heroes for the planet.

Exhibits will take place across the Woodbridge Town Center and Green/Library area. Browse the exhibit and vendor tables to learn about solar panels, recycling, heat pumps, composting, pollinators, invasive species and so much more! Say hi to our local farmers, see what they have for sale at the Farmer’s Market and learn about their specialties while the kids participate in a sustainable activity. Check out the Tag sale run by the Woodbridge Center to see what second hand items you may want to reuse instead of buying new.  Bring some of your seeds from home in a well labeled envelope for the seed exchange and add to your garden this spring or check out the plant swap!  Don’t forget the Friends of the Library Used Book sale and come see what the best ways to save gas with our EV Car Show.

Swing by Town Hall to meet our new first selectman Mica Cardozo and the rest of the Board of Selectmen and drop off old prescription glasses to find a second life or safely dispose of old medications at the Woodbridge Police Station. Don’t forget to take part in the scavenger hunt where winners will win prizes sponsored by local businesses. Once you have browsed the Center of Town area, swing by Beecher Road School South Assembly to pick up some New to You clothes from our clothing Freecycle from 10am-2pm. All genders, sizes and ages. Take as much as you want or need!  When you’re done finding your latest outfit, head over to the Darling Farmstead for their Open House.

Have a special interest? Meet up with other local dog owners at the Town Dog Park, at Pease Place Park for a playdate, Fitzgerald Field or Alice Newton Park for an informative walk to learn about local invasive species by Woodbridge Parks Association and the Woodbridge Land Trust. Or if you just want to relax and hang out with your neighbors, stay on the Green after the exhibits end for some more music and delicious food til 5pm.  We are so excited to be hosting this great event and encouraging all to respect and engage with our local resources.  We hope to see you there!
