The Amity Board of Education quite enthusiastically welcomed Jennifer Pallon Byars as the district’s next superintendent. She will start in her new position November 15.
Byars comes from an assistant superintendent at Ledyard Public Schools, a district with 2450 schools and 210 teachers. Prior, she was an elementary school principal in Deep River.
Board member Steven DeMaio said the hiring committee received overwhelmingly positive feedback about Byars.
“This is a great spot for us as Amity, as a community and for Dr. Byars as well. I am very exited about this moment and about the direction that we’re heading in,” DeMaio said.
“We have found a fantastic candidate and we look forward to having you join us,” board member Amy Esposito said to Byars, where she sat with her husband.
Board Chairman Christopher Browe called the search for a new superintendent a ‘wonderful process’ and said he is looking forward to the time ahead under Byars’ leadership.
