“Early in the game we began formulating a strategy to limit the effectiveness of this pandemic on our practice,” said Michael Dow, CEO/Director. “It was clear that this unprecedented virus would be the most disruptive and disastrous for our global society. We now know it takes no prisoners.”
Amity Physical Therapy is the Woodbridge-based practice with additional offices in Hamden and Branford. Well known for its award-winning compassionate treatment of physical injuries, combined with personal fitness/wellness programs, Dow conceived his own set of “guidelines” for all three offices. “We wanted to be well ahead of the curve,” Dow said, “so that our patients undergoing injuries and pain could be safely cared for while we adhered to the social distancing directions of the federal government, together with the lockdown mandate of Governor Lamont.
Here are Dow’s safety procedures:
- New and existing patients receive strict in-clinic safety measures and social distancing as prescribed by the CDC. Our staff is fully equipped with approved PPE protective gear that allows effective, safe, necessary physical therapy to patients of all ages, pediatrics to geriatrics;
- For at-home musculoskeletal care, patients can choose Telehealth communication or online viral E-visits for which insurance companies have waived co-pays and deductibles in most cases. All three offices offer in-clinic visits by appointment;
- Office hours remain the same while our ability to rotate our staff offers ultimate patient accommodation. We also realize the demands of remote at-home work and provide flexibility for patients who have the added task of assisting children with online learning.
