Even on a rainy, chilly Saturday, Amity Physical Therapy staff members were on hand to stretch out runners in this popular annual event. Now in its fourth year as a major sponsor of the race, the pre-and post race therapy is free to runners of all ages.
“Therapy is vital to runners with both warm up and cool down stretching,” commented Michael Dow MSPT, founder of Amity Physical Therapy. “In cold and inclement weather, it’s especially important to stretch out runners to minimize possible racing injuries,” Dow continued. “Calves, hamstrings, knee and ankle joints are all subject to running impact, and proper stretching exercises can be extremely helpful in preventing injuries.
Amity Physical Therapy is the pre-eminent practice of its kind in the Greater New Haven area, with offices in Hamden and Branford along with its original facility on Bradley Road in Woodbridge. For more information call 203-389-4593, or visit www.amitypt.com.
