The Writers’ Circle is a free program presented by the Arts Council of Greater New Haven designed to help writers, poets and freelancers by connecting them to writing experts. The panel discussion style meetings will take place once a month at the Arts Council on a range of topics such as How to Break Into Freelance, How to Write an Impressive Grant, How to Pitch a Novel and more. This program is a great tool for writers searching for publishing tips or even just a place to share work, ask questions and meet other local writers.
To launch the new season of The Writers’ Circle, The Arts Council will host a free launch party on October 22, 2014 from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the Institute Library, 847 Chapel Street, New Haven. The public is invited to attend. This kickoff event will feature a live literary performance by Allan Appel, a New Haven novelist, poet, and playwright whose books include Club Revelation, High Holiday Sutra, winner of a Barnes and Noble Discover Great New Writers Award, and The Rabbi of Casino Boulevard. Allen Appel is also a writer for The New Haven Independent. Please come mingle with the organizers and learn more about how this exciting program, now entering its second season, works. Wine and refreshments will be served.
This program is organized by David Brensilver (Writer & Editor of The Arts Paper) Stephen Grant (Writer & Communications Manager at the Arts Council), Daisy Abreu (Writer & Arts Council Board Member) and Lucy Gellman (Writer, New Haven Independent).
