Beth grew up in Woodbridge, daughter of Deacon Joe and Gae Borland. The Borlands were active in town, especially Gae who, besides being a teacher at Beecher Road School for over 30 years, held positions on many boards and commissions. Beth has taken up the baton from her mother, serving on several boards and commissions herself.
Beth graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and Boston College, ultimately becoming a CPA. After marrying Mike Walter, they returned to Woodbridge in 1990 to raise their 3 children, all of whom attended Beecher Road School and graduated from Amity Regional High School. Son Joe graduated from the USNA, Annapolis and is a Lieutenant in the United States Navy stationed at Pearl Harbor. Daughter Katie graduated from Southern Connecticut State University and as an elementary school teacher lives in Ulsan, South Korea teaching English. Erin lives and works in Santa Cruz, CA. Husband Mike, is a retired Real Estate Agent, former Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 63. He has been the volunteer Trail Master for the Woodbridge Blue Trail system since 2000.
Beth, a member of the Connecticut State Society of CPAs, works in private industry serving a family that owns multiple businesses throughout the state. She was formerly Treasurer of The Woodbridge Land Trust, a member of the Woodbridge Finance Committee and a Board Member of The Woodbridge Club. She is a parishioner of St. Aedan and St. Brendan Church in New Haven, where she serves on the Liturgy Committee, and formerly served as a member of St. Aedan’s Finance Council.
