Bethany Lions Present Amity Middle School Bethany a Scholarship Fund for Field Trip Assistance

On Wednesday, March 9, 2022, Mr. Akbar Dar and Mr. Clark Hurlburt, representatives from the Bethany Lions Club, presented a check for $1500 to the Amity Middle School 7th graders.  The donation is part of a scholarship program established by Mr. Dar through the Bethany Lions Club and has been given annually to AMSB students to help provide field trip assistance.  This year, the funds will be used to help offset the cost of transportation for the 7th grade field trip to The Discovery Zone Adventure Park in Bridgeport.  This trip will encourage students to employ skills of teamwork, cooperation, communication, and collaboration as they work through an interactive outdoor ropes course.  The donation will also help to cover the cost of the trip for students who have financial need.  During the presentation of the check, Mr. Dar and Mr. Hurlburt stressed the importance of community service and giving back to our community.  They asked the students to consider “paying it forward” in the years ahead and practicing the skills of citizenship and service that are the cornerstone of our work with students in the Amity School District.
