Hello, I’m Brooke Hopkins and would be honored to serve as a member on our district’s Board of Education.
A Woodbridge resident of 13 years, I have three children currently attending Beecher Road School. Over the past 9 years I’ve been an active parent, volunteering in the classrooms and participating in numerous school functions. Such interactions revealed that teachers in Woodbridge take pride in what they do and care about educating our children. I have appreciated the regular, professional communication with my daughters’ teachers. In light of their updates, I have always wanted a systematic approach which is missing from our district. A transparent, rigorous K-12 curriculum guide that parents support and understand, this will help them make sure their children are on the path to mastery and success.
As a social worker with an MSW, I am proud to have held successful leadership roles working with diverse populations over the past 30 years. I have a long history of working in the nonprofit sector with a focus on young people. In 2012, I founded the Kelly Ryan Foundation, which raised over $150,000 for families in need. In 2016 I started CT Youth Resources, which works with at risk youth through a mentoring program and providing support to families. In addition to my role as CEO Of CT Youth Resources, I am currently an Advisor to MSW students at the University of Connecticut School of Social Work.
No matter my role, I bring thoughtfulness, integrity, and determination to my effective approach. I am deeply committed to children, parents, and THE LEARNING COMMUNITY THAT VALUES SUCCESS.
