Cancer Benefit Concert

Woodbridge resident and Amity Middle School–Bethany 7th grader Victor You and his mother are seeking your support for a cancer benefit concert on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 7 PM. The concert, to be held at Center Church on the Green in New Haven, will feature for the first time together in performance Victor You and NYC-based pianist Steven Beck presenting music of Bach, Mozart, Chopin and Bartók. Following the 7 PM concert, a reception with refreshments will follow at 8 PM.

Suggested Donations: Adult & 13 up: $25, Children 6 – 12: $15,Children 5 & under free. Proceeds of the concert will be donated to Smilow Cancer Hospital to the “Parenting at a Challenging Time (PACT) Program”/Oncology Social Work Fund.

To purchase tickets, mail checks payable to: “Empowered by Music”, P.O. Box 5078, Woodbridge, CT 06525. Tickets will be emailed as pdf files or your name will be added to our will-call list. Victor You is a 12-year-old pianist and a Beecher Road School graduate. He is a winner of several student piano competitions which includes 1st place in the elementary/middle school division of the 37th Renée B. Fisher Competition for Young Pianists in April 2014. Victor began his piano studies at 5. After studying with Ms. Ludmila Ozeryansky in Connecticut for many years, he studied with Mr. Steven Beck. Currently, he is a student of Dr. José García-León from the Juilliard School. Victor and his mother, Dr. Hanna Chao, visit veterans in assisted living facilities, where Victor performs both classical and contemporary piano works.

Empowered by Music, registered with the town of Woodbridge, is a new organization seeking non-profit status that pairs budding young artists with professional musicians. The proceeds of the benefit concerts will be donated to a number of causes in the community.
