Because I believe Woodbridge needs a change in leadership and direction, I write in support of Cathy Wick for First Selectman.
Under Ellen Scalettar, we continue to over spend, grow our budget and deplete our savings; our debt burden is dangerously high; real property taxes continue to increase and are the highest per capita in New Haven County; our home values are not rebounding at the pace of other area towns; the Toll Brothers proposal for the Country Club of Woodbridge includes a zoning change to allow for condos and cluster homes, threatening the character of Woodbridge; and we have come to be governed by a select few insiders in a partisan fashion. Is this what we want for Woodbridge? I don’t know why we would.
Rather, Cathy Wick stands for: Budget and spending control as a predicate for tax reduction; preservation of our natural open space and the unique character of Woodbridge; no zoning changes that would adversely affect residential neighborhoods; bi-partisan representation on boards and commissions and an anti-nepotism policy to broaden the scope of those who have decision making power; and an open government that respects the will of town residents. Wouldn’t Woodbridge be served better by this approach?
Election Day is May 4. I will be voting for Cathy Wick and I urge you to do the same.
