Daniel Cowan – Candidate for Woodbridge Board of Education

I have enjoyed my time on the Board of Education very much over the last two years. I have learned much about the school and public education with this service. I wish to continue to serve the community by running for re-election. My wife and I have lived in Woodbridge for the last eight years, our younger daughter has attended Beecher Road since kindergarten, my older daughter is away at college. Prior to serving on the Board of Education, I was blessed to be the coordinator of the Halloween HOOT fundraiser, for three years. I am an active member of the Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church of America. My public service started with my time in the Navy aboard the USS Toledo. After completing the Navy, I had the opportunity to attend the University of New Haven receiving my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. My passion for education and teaching was sparked at the University of New Haven becoming an instructor at the Porter and Chester Institute, where I taught courses specializing in the repair of the HVAC systems. As a registered professional engineer, I have observed that I bring valuable insight as a voting member of the facilities committee. I have found valuable insights about the school district from being a voting member of the policy and finance committee which I plan to participate in again next year. Finally, it is important that you know I support the in-person learning model, fiscal prudence with the budget, and parents’ rights in the school. I look forward to winning reelection, with your vote, find me on Row B on Monday, May 3rd.
