David A. Lober MD – Candidate for Board of Selectmen

 

David has been a Woodbridge resident since 1984, and a Connecticut resident since 1975 He is a retired board certified anesthesiologist who moved to Connecticut to join the medical staff at Yale New Haven Hospital after finishing his Naval tour of duty during the Vietnam conflict.

He attended Brooklyn College where he served on the Student Advisory Leadership Council, a liaison between the faculty and student organizations.  He graduated from SUNY Downstate Medical Center and started training in surgery at the University of Florida, later switching to anesthesiology.  After graduating he served as an instructor before reporting for active duty in the Navy.

At Yale, he became Director of Anesthesia at the Memorial Unit as well as Director of Obstetrical Anesthesiology where he was responsible for scheduling, nurse education, staffing and monthly coverage.  He was also the medical liaison to the Lamaze Childbirth Education Program.

He left Yale for private practice at Temple Surgical Center, eventually becoming president of his corporation, helping to manage contracts, hiring, legal negotiations and salary decisions.

His wife, Felicia Lober, a lifelong Connecticut resident, is a nurse educator at Yale New Haven Hospital.  He has sent four children through the Woodbridge and Amity school systems.

Dave has been a volunteer for several organizations throughout his years in Woodbridge, including Boy Scout Troop 907 as Assistant Scoutmaster, Habitat for Humanity, Our Lady of the Assumption Church home rehabilitation project, Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen, Columbus House, and Hurricane Sandy clean-up in Milford.  In addition he has coached soccer, tee ball and Little League.  Dave was also a board member of the Woodbridge Child Care Center and a member of an ad hoc committee to save the Country Club of Woodbridge.

For fun he sails, golfs, plays tennis, hikes, snow shoes, cross country skis, and fishes (fresh water, salt water and ice).  He is an NRA certified Range Safety Officer and shotgun instructor and served as a volunteer for Boy Scout shooting events.  He has built cabinets and a sailboat.
