Dining with Susan: Eli’s Restaurant of Orange

Dining with Susan: Eli’s Restaurant of Orange

One of my favorite all time songs is the Three Dog Night hit from 1969 “Eli’s Coming”. Residents of Orange and surrounding communities were all buzzing with rumors earlier this year hearing that Eli’s Restaurant Group “was coming” and opening a location in Orange. I am pleased to report that Eli’s Orange opened July 16, 2015 on the busy Boston Post Road.

Eli’s Restaurant Group, a true “family” of restaurants, was founded over two decades ago by true brothers in spirit. They knew that a restaurant chain based on a philosophy that upscale American cuisine combined with a warm, friendly, inviting atmosphere and extraordinary service would result in the perfect meeting place for families, friends and sports fans alike to EAT, DRINK AND ENJOY all that Eli’s Restaurants have to offer.

This legacy began in 1994 with the opening of their flagship restaurant, Eli’s on Whitney, located in the heart of Hamden, Connecticut just down the road from Quinnipiac University. Eli’s, as the original restaurant is known, has been the genesis of three more restaurants: Eli’s Brick Oven Pizza and Market located next door to Eli’s on Whitney Avenue in Hamden; Eli’s Branford which sits atop “the Hill” in Branford, CT; Eli’s Tavern on Daniel Street in the chic downtown district of Milford and now, of course, the newest location in Orange. Each of their locations is a perfect daytime or late night setting for hanging out and having a great time with friends.

Eli’s Orange brings to its new location the loved Eli’s style restaurant serving upscale American fare with an Italian twist, a great bar and plenty of TVs for your viewing pleasure.

The 189 person restaurant features Eli’s signature centerpiece horseshoe bar featuring leather tufted luxurious elevated booths, matching leather bar stools, dark hardwood floors and walnut tables, walls and a fabulous walnut ceiling that must be seen to be believed. The perfect place to sit and watch your favorite team on one of their many big screen TVs while getting a drink from the large selection of craft beers. The one-of-a kind center island bar boasts 24 draft lines, 18 different wines by the glass, specialty martinis and handcrafted cocktails.

Open for lunch and dinner daily along with a late-night menu available right up until closing. Enjoy Eli’s Happy Hour, offered every Monday – Friday 4-6 pm in the bar with discounted appetizers and drink specials. “Eli’s is a place where everyone knows your name,” said Shawn Reilly, Director of Operations for Eli’s Restaurant Group and Happy Hour is a great place to start both your evening and those relationships. Reilly said Eli’s rapid growth which has led to a doubling of the size of its flagship restaurant in Hamden, the opening of Eli’s Daniel Street Tavern in downtown Milford and the new Eli’s Orange, all within 12 months. “Our loyal customers come from all over Connecticut and they are always suggesting that we open a restaurant in their neighborhood. With the success of our restaurant group over the past twenty years we are always looking for new expansion opportunities and we always wanted to be in Orange as it is a great Town and opportunity for us,” he said. “The Post Road in Orange was obviously the logical place to go in Orange. We love our spot and the Town and people we have met there in the short time we have been there. We look forward to continuing our tradition of building strong relationships in the areas where our restaurants are located.”

Eli’s Orange serves all of the favorite menu items which customers have enjoyed over the years at Eli’s other locations, including Philly cheese steak egg rolls, penne a la vodka and a wide variety fresh-daily seafood, chicken and steak dishes, all types of sandwiches and mouthwatering burgers, grilled flatbreads, crisp fresh entree salads, delicious desserts, daily specials and a great kid’s menu.

Eli’s Catering Division offers a wide ranging variety of catering options for weddings, elegant affairs, and corporate events held at any of their restaurants or an off-premise location of your choice. Eli’s restaurants offer private and personal event spaces which include private rooms, loft space, conference rooms, and a New York Style Pub, along with more traditional rooms that will accommodate any of your functions whether you want to host 10 or 175. All of Eli’s restaurants are Wi-Fi capable and have large screen TVs for presentations. Whether you are looking for a corporate breakfast meeting in their conference room, a bridal or baby shower, rehearsal dinner, wedding, birthday or anniversary party, their Executive Chefs specialize in customizing menus to fit your guest list and venue.
