Dane DeYoung is a 7th grader with a love for animals as well as being an athlete. (Dane enjoys running and rock climbing). He will also be celebrating his Bar Mitzvah in October. What better way to combine his interests than by having a ‘Doggie and Kid Dash’ with the proceeds going to a local rescue group as Dane’s Bar Mitzvah project.
Dane contacted Amity Animal Rescue Fund, (AARF), to enquire about what services the group provided for animals in the community. After several emails, Dane informed AARF that he would be holding a benefit event in the spring and AARF would be the recipient of the event’s proceeds.
Dane reached out to area businesses and veterinary hospitals for donations for his event. The results were tote bags, tee shirts, dog treats and food….all because a young man cared enough about animals to reach out to the community on their behalf. The Doggie and Kid Dash was a success! Dane recently met with AARF to give them the proceeds from the event.
Being a Bar Mitzvah denotes the time when a boy becomes a man. Dane has shown you don’t have to be a grown up to do good deeds in your community. Thank you Dane, for caring about animals in need.
