EDC Announces Woodbridge Bucks

EDC Announces Woodbridge Bucks

The Woodbridge Economic Development Commission (EDC) is proud to announce “Woodbridge Bucks.”  The program is designed to encourage residents to shop, dine and try Woodbridge and to support local businesses.

This February, the EDC will hold weekly drawings to give out hundreds in Woodbridge Bucks to be spent locally.  Woodbridge Bucks may be spent at participating Woodbridge businesses (see below for a full list).  To enter the drawings residents are encouraged to reply to the weekly posts on the Town’s Facebook and Instagram pages (like or follow here:  www.facebook/woodbridgect and instagram.com/TownofWoodbridgeCT) to share their love for local businesses.  The Town will post the request on Monday mornings and responses received before 9 am on Fridays will be entered into that week’s drawing.  People may also submit recently written positive Yelp or Google reviews of local businesses to the EDC via email (byagla@woodbridgect.org) or mail them to Betsy Yagla; 11 Meetinghouse Lane; Woodbridge CT 06525.

During the first week of the program Josh Edelman, Joi Prud’homme, Susan Rubino, Kim Sembiante and Ed Walsh won the drawings.

Residents praised Solun Tapas Bar and Restaurant for “delicious” food and “excellent” customer service; Woodbridge Running Company for “great staff, personal fittings;” Brown Fitness & Wellness has been a “fantastic experience” for one poster; the UPS Store is “very reliable, friendly and they always go out of their way;” and Fernis Barbershop at Lucky Soul Tattoo is “fantastic.”

Additional comments lauded Paolo Ristorante because “the atmosphere, people and dining experience make each visit a special memory;” and “The Woodbridge True Value Hardware store has the nicest most helpful people around.”  Another resident said “Thai Stories is our go-to place for takeout.  It never disappoints!”  Yet another shared that she “had a great take-out meal at Las Brasas!  Their tortas are amazing!”

Ceci’s Salon received praise – “all the ladies are so talented and sweet and really enjoy pampering all their clients;” and another shared that “Bobby at Elm City Trailers is a huge local supporter.”  On Instagram a resident shared love for Massaro Community Farm for its weekly online produce sale and activities.

“I’m excited to see residents taking the opportunity to share their positive experiences with our local businesses,” said EDC Chair Jeremy Rosner.  “We know that positive reviews are helpful to businesses and I’m proud that the EDC can reward residents for writing those positive reviews.  Please continue to shop, dine and try Woodbridge!”

“I’d like to thank the Economic Development Commission for this innovative program,” said First Selectman Beth Heller.  “Now more than ever it is important to support local businesses.  I hope that the chance of winning Woodbridge Bucks will inspire residents to continue sharing all the things they love about our fantastic local businesses and to shop locally!”
