Celebrating the CT Farm to School Connection: October is Connecticut’s Farm to School month. This year, Massaro Farm elected to process some of its tomato harvest into gallon-sized containers that could be made available to local schools for use in cafeterias. We’re grateful for the partnership with Gracie’s Kitchen that allowed us to process our organic tomatoes into these convenient sizes for larger-scale food production and for districts like Branford working to incorporate more locally produced items into school food service. If you know of a district that would be interested, please have them call the farm office so we can plan for next year.
Buy a Brick: Bricks are now on sale to support the upcoming construction of a post-and-beam pavilion in the Learning Garden by students of Emmett O’Brien Technical School. The pavilion will provide valuable shade/sun protection for staff and be a gathering space for the many educational programs taking place at the farm. Your brick commemorates you or a loved one and becomes the foundation for the pavilion. Bricks come in two sizes and can be purchased through the farm’s website or using the following link. https://brickmarkerusa.com/donors/massaro.html. 4” x 8” – $100; 8” x 8” – $250.
