First Selectman Recognizes Elaine Marcucio as March Person of the Month

First Selectman Ellen Scalettar recognized Elaine Marcucio as the March Woodbridge Person of the Month. Scalettar initiated the Woodbridge Person of the Month Recognition program to spotlight the many Woodbridge residents, volunteers and employees who go above and beyond the expected in their dedication and commitment to Woodbridge and its residents.

Since 2011 Marcucio has been the chef at the Town’s Senior Center, providing a hot, healthy and tasty lunch for seniors every Tuesday and Friday. In the summer, Marcucio prepares meals using fresh produce from the Senior Center’s garden.

Marcucio also runs her own business, Young at Heart, and is leaving her position at the Senior Center to focus on her business. As just one example of her selflessness, she has offered to stay on until her replacement is hired and trained. “Our Woodbridge seniors have been spoiled by Elaine’s tasty meals and dedication; it will be a tough job to fill her shoes,” said Scalettar.

“We will miss Elaine,” said Human Services Director Mary Ellen LaRocca. “She is always happy and eager to accommodate the seniors.”

Marcucio frequently goes above and beyond by making breads, candy and treats for the luncheons on her own time. For the December holiday lunch, at home she and her mother made platters of holiday cookies to share with the seniors. In November, during the annual Senior Center Holiday Fair, she volunteered to organize and staff two booths new to the fair in addition to organizing the pie sale. She and her mother baked cookies, candies and pies for sale during the fair.

If you know a Woodbridge employee, resident or volunteer who’s gone above and beyond expectations, please nominate that person for this award by contacting Betsy Yagla at byagla@woodbridgect.org or 203-389-3403.
