First Selectman Ellen Scalettar recognized William Rosario as the May Woodbridge Person of the Month. Scalettar initiated the Woodbridge Person of the Month Recognition program to spotlight the many Woodbridge residents, volunteers and employees who go above and beyond the expected in their dedication and commitment to Woodbridge and its residents.
Since 1996 Rosario has worked as a custodian for the Town of Woodbridge. In addition to usual custodial duties, he organizes and manages the set-up and break-down for most Town events, including meetings, special events and the summer concerts.
Recently, Rosario has managed the set-up and break-down of large meetings and events running concurrently. For example, on April 25 Rosario set-up for the Presidential Preference Primary while also setting up the Town’s Preliminary Budget Hearing and still managed to complete his regular duties. He returned to work the following morning at 4:30 a.m.to unlock doors for the Primary. The following week Rosario organized rooms to host a large public meeting with the state Department of Transportation and the Amity Budget Referendum, also both on the same day.
His ability to juggle multiple events at the same time while maintaining a positive attitude and a cheerful demeanor is impressive.
“William is incredibly reliable and proactive,” said Scalettar. “The Town of Woodbridge would be at a loss without William – he is the behinds-the-scene person who makes so many of our public meetings and community events possible.”
Rosario is frequently under a lot of pressure to make sure that events are set up properly and on time, but he makes it look so easy.
Rosario is considerate of everyone and is able to juggle events to avoid causing cancelations.
If you know a Woodbridge employee, resident or volunteer who’s gone above and beyond expectations, please nominate that person for this award by contacting Betsy Yagla at firstname.lastname@example.org or 203-389-3403.
