Woodbridge First Selectman Beth Heller, along with Woodbridge Youth Services, announces the 2019 winner of the First Selectman’s Youth Award as Samuel Martin. Samuel, son of Tad and Lisa Martin and a senior at Amity Regional High School, has been an active member of Boy Scout Troop 41 and has demonstrated positive actions to improve the lives of the Woodbridge community.
Samuel has achieved his Eagle Scout status and completed the ambitious task of refurbishing forty-one trailhead signs for the Woodbridge Land Trust, a project that many residents can enjoy. As an Eagle Scout, he serves as an assistant scoutmaster for Troop 41 where he contributes his leadership skills to Town youth.
A passionate supporter of the Unified Sports program at Amity High School, “his commitment to serving and assisting local disabled students is inspirational and commendable,” according to resident Mark Livesay who nominated Sam for this award.
Samuel Martin will receive his award at the 31st annual Human Services Volunteer Tea on April 11th along with a monetary gift provided by Peoples United Bank in Woodbridge.
