I was dismayed to read Laurence Grotheer’s letter concerning Massaro Community Farm (“MCF”) in the April 3 edition of the Woodbridge Town News. I wasn’t worried about the misleading insinuations – as a member of MCF’s Board of Directors, I know them to be untrue. Rather, I was dismayed to see that Mr. Grotheer has once again brought nasty, negative campaigning into our town.
While negative campaigning may work at the state level, where Mr. Grotheer practiced political communications for years, it is my sincere hope that Woodbridge voters will reject such tactics. As a town of fewer than 10,000 people, we can still hope to share a sense of community. We all make Woodbridge our home, and we should treat each other with courtesy and respect as neighbors.
On May 4th, I hope Woodbridge voters will decline to support Selectman Grotheer’s bid for re-election and instead vote for Maria Kayne to join the Woodbridge Board of Selectmen. Maria is unaffiliated and will be a dedicated representative of every resident in town. Instead of focusing on the interests of a political party, she will do her homework on every issue, listen to constituents, and vote for what is best for the town as a whole.
First Selectman of Woodbridge, 2001-2006
