Sen. George Logan represents the 17th District, which includes most of Woodbridge. A graduate of Notre Dame High School in West Haven, he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from Trinity College and a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bridgeport.
Sen. Logan has spent most of his professional life working through the ranks of the largest private water company in the state – Aquarion Water Company – where he learned every aspect of providing clean drinking water to customers. During this time, Sen. Logan has engaged in capital projects, sustainability programs, alternative energy programs, watershed maintenance, environmental compliance, natural resources management and government relations. At each stage of responsibility, Sen. Logan earned the trust of local government officials, environmental organizations, property owners and businesses.
The Senate Republican Majority Whip, Sen. Logan is Co-Chair of the Planning and Development Committee and Vice-Chair of the Public Health and Veterans Affairs Committees. He also serves as a member of the Education Committee and the Regulation Review Committee.
Trained as an engineer but a businessman by profession, Sen. Logan has stressed the state’s need to retain and attract young skilled workers and professionals and to create a business-friendly environment. Sen. Logan believes that the state budgeting process starts “with the simple concept that we stop spending more than we take in.” He continues to focus on legislative efforts to reduce burdensome state regulations and taxes. He was instrumental in passing the current bi-partisan “No Tax Increase” budget and defeating proposed new taxes on tires, mobile phone use and restaurant bills and is firmly opposed to instituting statewide tolls. His path to improving our state’s looming, multi-billion-dollar budget deficit is through creating a business environment that will increase the number of good-paying jobs, bringing more taxpayers to our state. An improved state economy will also stop the migration of our next generation out of Connecticut – a real problem many of us are experiencing first-hand.
The Senator has received several awards in his first term, including George Bellinger Corporate Award by the Greater Bridgeport NAACP. The award recognizes “leadership in diversity and inclusion with a focus on community outreach and professional development.” He was recognized as the 2017 Legislative Champion from the CT Alliance of YMCAs, as well as the CT State Firefighters Association for his advocacy of the Valley Fire School. Most recently he was the recipient of the Legislator of the Year Award by the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities.
Sen. Logan’s involvement and service to the community has touched many lives. He is currently on the Board of Directors of Griffin Hospital, the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce, Central Connecticut Coast YMCA and Junior Achievement of Western Connecticut.
Sen. Logan lives in Ansonia with his wife, Lisa, who is a Registered Nurse for the state Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services; his son Hunter and daughter Tracey.
