‘Gett: The Trial of Viviane Amsalem’ Coming to Congregation Or Shalom

The movie “Gett: The Trial of Viviane Amsalem” is coming to Congregation Or Shalom, 205 Old Grassy Hill Road, Orange, on Sunday, March 13, at 2:00 p.m. The film is a 2015 Israeli drama starring Ronit Elkabetz.

Gett concerns an Israeli woman who is seeking to finalize her divorce from her cruel and manipulative husband and finds herself effectively put on trial by her country’s religiously-based marriage laws. This riveting drama is directed by siblings Shlomi and Ronit Elkabetz, who is also one of Israeli cinema’s most acclaimed actresses. In Israel there is neither civil marriage nor civil divorce; only rabbis can legalize a marriage or its dissolution, which is only possible with the husband’s full consent.

All are welcome. Free and open to the public.
