The Woodbridge Sustainability Committee hopes your holidays be filled with love, warmth, laughter, and joy with family and friends. The following are a few seasonally relevant recycling reminders:
- Wrapping paper is not recyclable, but craft paper bags minus their twine handles are;
- Tissue paper is not recyclable, but newspaper and magazines are;
- Gift in reusable containers and bags or fabric and ribbons;
- Flattened cardboard and boxboard boxes for recycling;
- Any little stretchy plastic bags can be recycled with plastic wrap at many local stores like Walmart and Big Y. To find other locations, visit https://www.plasticfilmrecycling.org/recycling-bags-and-wraps/find-drop-off-location/.
- Screw bottle caps onto clean and dry plastic and glass bottles and cartons (milk, juice, and egg nog!) so caps can be recycled. Loose caps contaminate the recycling sorting process;
- Aluminum foil can be recycled if it is clean and dry;
- Styrofoam is not recyclable. Put it in the trash;
- Remember to bring your reusable bags to stores; and
- When you put non-recyclable items in the recycling it contaminates the whole load. Check if something is recyclable at Recyclect.com.
