Woodbridge First Selectman Beth Heller took the gavel as the new Chair of the South-Central Regional Council of Governments at the organization’s January 22 meeting. The South-Central Regional Council of Governments (SCRCOG) provides a platform for intermunicipal coordination, cooperation, and decision making. SCRCOG is made up of fifteen municipalities: Bethany, Branford, East Haven, Guilford, Hamden, Madison, Meriden, Milford, New Haven, North Branford, North Haven, Orange, Wallingford, West Haven, and Woodbridge.
Heller had been the vice chair during the 2019 calendar year and was elected by her peers to serve as chair for the 2020 year. “I’d like to thank my fellow first selectmen and mayors for their confidence,” said Heller. “SCRCOG is an essential resource for our towns and these monthly meetings are an important avenue for town leaders to learn from each other. My goal is to foster a cooperative environment and ensure all towns are taking full advantage of these opportunities.”
