January Events at Massaro Farm

Volunteer Appreciation Party previously scheduled for December 9, 2017 will now take place on Saturday, January 20 from 12:30-2:30pm.  This luncheon will take place in the Assembly Room of Beecher Road School South, Beecher Road, Woodbridge, CT.  Whether you’ve volunteered once or repeatedly over the last year, please join us for this luncheon to honor you.  RSVP to operations@massarofarm.org.

NEW! the farm and Woodbridge Town Library will be co-hosting four monthly events focused on food and where it comes from.  These events are intended to be a fun way for residents to meet fellow residents and discuss a variety of food related topics during the cooler months.  All events are open to the public and will take place on the last Wednesday of each of the months of January, February, March, and April 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm in the library’s meeting room.  The first event on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 @ 6:00 P.M. will be a Vegetarian Potluck Supper.  Those interested in attending are asked to prepare and bring a dish to share that is vegetarian, delicious, and healthy.

For ideas of what dish to make and bring, everyone is encouraged to check out a vegetarian cookbook from the Woodbridge Library’s extensive collection of cookbooks.  In addition to bringing a dish to share, please bring a copy of the dish’s recipe with your name on it.  This will enable others who enjoy your dish to talk to you at the potluck about how you made it, and also help those with specific food allergies to be mindful of your dish’s ingredients.  After the potluck, copies of all the recipes will be posted on the Massaro Farm website for everyone to use.

Paper plates, napkins, cutlery, and cups will be supplied.  Please remember to bring a serving spoon with your dish.

To register for the Massaro Community Potluck Supper, please visit www.woodbridgetownlibrary.org or call the library at 203-389-3433.

Future “Massaro Farm at the Library” events will include:

Wednesday, February 28 @ 6:00 pm: Showing of the documentary movie, “Fresh” about the food movement, followed by discussion.

Wednesday, March 28 @ 6:00 pm:  Potluck Supper on the theme of “Eating with the Seasons”.  Participants are asked to bring a dish to share with its recipe and a serving spoon.

Wednesday, April 25 @ 6:00 pm: Workshop:  “Cooking Herbs & Spices from your Garden” with Natalie Glidden

Between May – October, Massaro Farm will be hosting many additional events at the farm including potlucks, outdoor movies, workshops on a variety of topics, Celebrate Spring Day, Family Fun Day, and more.  Stay tuned for announcements of those events as the weather warms.
