Joe Dey – Candidate for Board Of Selectmen

Joe first moved to Woodbridge in 1968 as a 12 year old.  He attended Beecher Road School, Amity Middle School and graduated from Amity Regional High School in 1974.  He earned a BS in Business Administration from UCONN and his JD, cum laude from Bridgeport School of Law, which is now Quinnipiac University School of Law.

Joe started a general law practice in Milford, where he lived after graduation.  He married Deirdre (Gremmy) Smith and in 1992 they moved back to Woodbridge with their three year old daughter.  Even though he kept his law practice in Milford, Joe knew that Woodbridge was where he wanted to raise their three daughters.  Daron, Taylor and McKenzie went through the Beecher and Amity school systems.

In addition to practicing general law, Joe spent some time working in private industry as an international sales manager for Westwood Associates, and a national sales manager for sister company, ParcelPort, LLC.  Westwood Associates was a broker of printed circuit boards and ParcelPort, LLC was a related warehousing and logistics company.  In 2011 he became a licensed property and casualty insurance agent and joined Danforth Associates, Inc. DBA George J. Smith & Son Insurance.  Joe is Vice President of this family owned independent insurance agency in Milford.

Joe’s professional and community involvement has been extensive.  He is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association and Phi Beta Phi Law Fraternity and was elected into the Amity Regional Athletic Hall of Fame.  In 2003, he was elected to the Amity Regional Board of Education where he served as Chairman of the Facilities Committee, which oversaw the three school $90 million renovation project.

In addition he is currently a member of the United Way of Milford Board of Directors, the Milford Hospital Board of Corporators, and the Woodbridge Board of Selectmen.
