Woodbridge resident Cynthia Gibbons argues that candidate Tony Anastasio deserves our vote as First Selectman because of his “proven financial background as a successful business owner and financial planner”. Mr. Anastasio has been a member of the Board of Selectmen for 4 years. During that period it is hard to find a single example of fiscal leadership or novel direction from Mr. Anastasio, and it is telling that Ms. Gibbons could not find one either. In fact, as a member of the Board of Selectmen, Mr. Anastasio has voted with the majority to approve every Town budget throughout his four-year tenure.
Regarding Mr. Anastasio’s “proven financial background”, Ms. Gibbons should elaborate. Mr. Anastasio’s resume notes a BS in business administration from Niagara University and past experience as an “Investment Broker” at John Hancock. Mr. Anastasio’s published resume lists no business ownership, successful or otherwise, and no certification as a financial planner or registration as an investment broker. The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) shows no record of Mr. Anastasio as regulated broker or investment advisor now or in the past. The State of Connecticut has no record of Mr. Anastasio as a registered investment advisor.
