It is with deep sadness that I write to inform you of the death of Kathy Gartland on February 22, 2019.
Kathy was a steadfast advocate for the protection and conservation of Open Space. Without Kathy’s tireless efforts, our Town would be a different place. She served the Town of Woodbridge as Chair of its Conservation Commission for 24 years, from 1983-2007, and was involved in the many major Open Space acquisitions that occurred during that time, including the Elderslie and Alegi properties. She was instrumental in creating the walking trail, enjoyed on a daily basis by many town residents, that encircles the Fitzgerald tract.
It was my privilege to know Kathy and to learn from her over the last decade. She will be missed by all who knew her and all who enjoy the beauty and serenity of Woodbridge’s open spaces.
