I am pleased to say that room 18 has been awarded a $1000.00 grant from the Jamie A. Hulley Foundation that we will use toward theater workshop activities with Long Wharf Theater. A theater rep will visit room 18 ten times in the New Year, and provide us with theater activities that promote writing and science through the arts. This is my fourth year with the Hulley Foundation and each year brings an enriching experience to the students.
Jamie’s favorite saying was, “What would I do with small dreams?” We will remind the students of this motto of hers to encourage them to think big and dream big.
Jamie lost her battle with an aggressive lymphoma right before she turned 21. Her parents run the foundation and provide the funds to schools through grants. Some of the students were able to meet Jamie’s parents and accept the check for Edgewood School today.
