I am a life-long resident of Woodbridge and have been active in a variety of social and political organizations. Woodbridge residents have been, at least from my perspective, upbeat about our town, citing our quiet neighborhoods, good school system and the sound investments we have made in homes being the foundation of our nest eggs. But in the last few years I have experienced a disturbing shift in the upbeat attitude. Many people I speak with are now experiencing first hand a serious reduction in their home values. As they become empty nesters and look to downsize, they are finding their home values diminished, not appreciated. They say potential buyers are put off by our property taxes compared to other CT towns and selling homes now requires major price reductions to make a sale possible. As I read campaign literature from candidates in our May elections, I see the Republicans recognizing this situation and offering solutions, while I see the Democrats talking up leadership and results. It occurs to me it is Democrat leadership that got our wonderful town to the point of reduced property values and that these are not the results we need going forward. We need to put people in charge who recognize this problem and are offering real solutions. Vote for a better Woodbridge; vote Ed Weinberg and his team.
