Letter: Woodbridge Selectman Endorses Hoyt for Senate

Woodbridge Selectman, Dave Vogel, has endorsed Republican candidate, Kathy Hoyt, for State Senate in the 17th district.  Vogel praised Hoyt’s background in real estate and as a small business owner as a major reason for his endorsement.  “During such tough times for small business owners, we need someone like Kathy who, as a business owner, has firsthand experience with the struggles of owning a business in Connecticut and I am confident she will fight to make our state more business-friendly.”  Vogel continued, “It is my pleasure to endorse Kathy and I hope you will join me in voting for her in November.

Kathy Hoyt is a life-long Hamden resident.  She attended local public schools and graduated from Hamden High School.  From there, she attended Central Connecticut State University, graduating with a Undergraduate Degree in Elementary Education, and a Masters in Educational Leadership.  Kathy went on to become a teacher.  Teaching young learners for many years she then moved into a role of administrator, for over 10 years.  Leaving the educational world to raise her young family, she became a volunteer throughout the community.  For the past 18 years she has been a Real Estate Agent in New Haven County.  Kathy is active on many boards in the local area.  She is an active member of the Hamden Chamber of Commerce, serving on both the executive Board, and the Governmental Affairs Committee Kathy believes that small business needs to be supported, and encouraged for growth in our state.

Kathy also serves on the Board of Directors for the House of Heroes, a non-profit organization that supports and assists our veterans in CT.  Kathy believes that veterans throughout our state should be honored for the service and sacrifice they have given to our country.  Kathy often hears many voices in the community sharing their concerns of fear, fear of not being able to afford to keep their homes, their struggles in making ends meet, concerns with government spending, taxation, and rising crime rates.  This has given Kathy the desire to run for office.  To help make a difference and make changes at the state level.  To be a firm voice for common sense leadership.
