Woodbridge Resident and 8th Grader at The Hopkins School, Sydney Hirsch, is getting set to compete in the Junior Olympics in the sport of Fencing this coming February in Richmond Virginia. It has already been an amazing season for the 13 year old, having started this season as an Unrated Competitor and has increased to a D rated fencer, the fourth highest ranked national level. She has also become National Ranked in the Youth 14 having earned a bronze medal at the Meadowlands Expo Center at an event that featured some of the top Youth 14 Girls in the Country.
She has done this by competing all over the Nation this year, Fencing in Texas, Kentucky, NJ, Maryland, Virginia, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. During her travels she has brought home 6 medals fencing some of the top competitors across the country.
In addition to her eligibility to compete in the Junior Olympics, Sydney is also already qualified to Compete in the National Championships to be held in San Jose this summer.
