To the editor,
Many thanks to the wonderful Woodbridge Volunteer Firemen and the Woodbridge Police. I sincerely hope that others never have the situation that we had at our house the weekend of March 28-29.
Our dryer caught fire and these dedicated people saved our home from total disaster. We could have lost our house. The firemen are dedicated volunteers who, at a moment’s notice, leave their warm homes and put a hundred pounds of equipment on their backs to run into burning buildings, cut people out of car wrecks and help us during emergencies like hurricanes and snow storms-all on their own time (and their families’ time).
All of this makes me proud of our wonderful town. Our administration and town departments are so very supportive and caring. The Volunteer Fire Department, our Public Works and Police are always there when you need them. Thank you! Last but not least, thank you to John, my wonderful son, for getting us out of the house (when all I could do was panic), for having fire extinguishers in the house and for trying so hard to put out the fire. It could have been so much worse.
Please check your smoke detectors, have fire extinguishers handy and know how to use them, have an emergency plan, and don’t ever go to bed or leave your home with your clothes dryer on!
Our family is thankful to the Town for all of the kindness that we have received following our fire emergency. Thank you!
