Massaro Community Farm Events For October

 

Monthly Education Meeting Second Wednesday of the month 7:00pm For those interested in volunteering on the farm or for our farm based education activities, please attend the monthly education meetings on the second Wednesday of every month at 7pm on the Farm.

General Farm Volunteering on Tuesdays from 8:30am – 12:00pm and Fridays from 8:30am – 12:00pm Volunteer to help with field work at our farm and join our knowledgeable farm field staff as they plant, seed, water, harvest and weed our 8 cultivated acres, where we grow the majority of our produce for CSA members, farmer’s markets and local restaurants.

Farmers Market Every Sunday in October you can find us at the Edgewood Park Farmers Market, Whalley Avenue & West Rock Avenue, New Haven from 10:00am to 1:00pm.

The 2016 CT Folk Festival & Green Expo Come find us from 11am – 5pm at this day long FREE event at Edgerton Park in New Haven as we celebrate with musicians, activities, and good food. See CTFolk.com for more information.

Fall After School Program from September 12 – November 14 Mondays 3:30-5:30pm Kids Dig Farms @ Massaro Community Farm – Get your child unplugged and outdoors with this hands-on after school program. Kids will learn fall farming basics, make a harvest pizza, prepare for seasonal transformation, plant garlic, explore our nature trail, and more! Snacks included. Ages 7-12 ➢$110 residents; $120 non-residents. Family Fun Day and Harvest Festival October 8 from 1-5pm We hope you can join us for this annual family-friendly event, taking place this year on Saturday, October 8 from 1:00-5:00pm (rain date: October 9) that invites participants to take part in traditional games, food & fun on the farm. Celebrating the harvest season, we’ll have sack races, tug-of-war, face painting, hay rides, pumpkin painting, bake sale, music and more! We’ll also be featuring a magic show led by The Amazing Andy.

Trail Night Hike and Marshmallow Roast October 15 from 6-7:30pm A fun event for families. Join us for a night hike on the trail and end it with a yummy Marshmallow Roast.
