Beekeeping Workshop: Spring Inspection

April 12, 9-10:30am and 11:30am-1pm at Massaro Community Farm (Registration required)

In partnership with the Connecticut Beekeeper’s Association.  Come to the Spring Inspection workshop at either time and learn how to inspect your hive at the beginning of the season!  Please bring your own veil.  Veils are available for purchase at the workshop.

Getting Your Garden Ready

April 17, 6-8pm at Ansonia Nature Center (10 Deerfield Road, Ansonia, CT 06401) – Free

Join Massaro Community Farm and the Ansonia Nature Center for a workshop: “Getting Your Garden Ready”.  We’ll share steps for prepping, or starting, your garden for spring and summer plantings.  Learn organic techniques to grow a healthy garden and plants for a bountiful season!  Bring your questions and comments as we prepare for the bountiful growing season to come.

Teacher Field Trip

April 22, 4-5:30pm at Massaro Community Farm – Free

Come join us after school on Monday, April 22nd from 4:00-5:30 for a field trip designed specifically for our local teachers and educators!  There will be a tour of the farm, some examples of our hands-on lessons, as well as wine and cheese for our guests.  We want to share our educational mission with our local teachers, and, in turn, show you what we can provide to your students at the farm.

Beginner’s Bird Walk

April 28, 9am at Massaro Community Farm

Join local expert birder and Connecticut Ornithological Association President Chris Loscalzo on a beginners’ bird walk at Massaro Farm on Sunday, April 28th beginning at 9:00 am.  The walk is free and open to the public.  Advanced registration is not necessary.  Bring binoculars if you have them.  Wear footwear you won’t mind getting muddy.

Herbal First Aid

May 4, 1:30pm at Massaro Community Farm -(Suggested $10 donation)

Join Jess Sailer from Walnut Beach Wellness Center as we explore first aid gifts that nature gives us!  During this class, Jess will help you learn about some plants that have specific healing properties (calendula, burdock, and plantain) and how to best use them.
