Mica is running for a seat on the Board of Selectmen with a background of many years of service in local government, combined with a highly successful business career in telecommunications technology sales and account management. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Fire Commissioners having been appointed by the Board of Selectmen in 2014. Prior to this he served a term as an appointed member of the Economic Development Commission from 2010 to 2014, where he was instrumental in the launch of the Town’s Business Development website initiative.
Mica is employed by Frontier Communications as a Regional Sales Manager, since 2015. Previously he worked for ATT Partner Solutions and SNET in increasingly senior management roles over the course of more than 20 years with the company as it evolved through mergers. In his role as a client relationship management professional, Mica has been recognized as a seasoned leader who, having held diverse key roles, has a keen understanding of demands across functions and who effectively motivates and inspires team members to deliver results. He is highly regarded by peers as an innovative and collaborative manager. In 2014 he was selected for the Diamond Club, the highest sales honor awarded to the top two percent of AT&T salespeople globally. Mica attended Albertus Magnus College’s Business Management Program, where he achieved Dean’s List recognition.
As a volunteer, Mica has served as Treasurer of the Knights of Pythias since 2010, and as a coach for both the Southington Youth Basketball and the JCC Girls Basketball programs. He has also been an active member of the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce for several years. In addition, he currently serves as a Board Member of the Alzheimer’s Association, and is a former Vice President and Board Member of the Woodbridge Child Center.
Mica and his wife Pat, who is running for re-election to the Amity Board of Education, moved to Woodbridge in 1995. Their two daughters are graduates of both Beecher and the Amity school system; their youngest is a freshman at Colby Sawyer College, and eldest is a recent graduate of Bryant University. Mica is bilingual; English and Cape Verdean (Portuguese Dialect). He enjoys coaching youth athletics, participating in local adult sports leagues, and reading.
Mica says, “My wife Pat and I have had the very good fortune of raising our two daughters in Woodbridge. Now I welcome the opportunity to join others who are committed to further improving our community by addressing the needs of our existing residents while also making Woodbridge even more attractive for both new families and businesses.”
