Gene married Michael Luther in 1964 and moved to Woodbridge to build a new home.  Gene felt strongly about contributing positively to her community and volunteered for a number of organizations including Planned Parenthood, The League of Women Voters and Girl Scouts.  She attended Christ Church Bethany and was an active member of the Women’s Group there.

Gene was a dedicated mother, wife, aunt, sister, daughter and friend, and a kind and generous person with an easy laugh and a caring heart.  She is survived by her loving husband, Michael, her daughter Sarah, her sister Cynthia Woodruff Pratt, her brothers Sam and Thomas White and nieces Cynthia and Carrie Pratt.

Due to the pandemic no service is planned, though a memorial to celebrate Gene’s life will be held in the spring.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Wheeler Financial Aid Endowment Fund, Wheeler School, 216 Hope Street, Providence, RI 02906.
