One Innocent Life will be hosting its first inaugural Beat the Heat 5K Run/Walk on June 18 in the town center of Woodbridge, CT. The event will feature live music from New Haven band, Eggy, family-friendly activities, local food trucks, artisans, and the highly anticipated 5K Run | Walk.
Beat the Heat 5K Run/Walk is a charity event that honors the lives lost due to fire related incidents, by advocating for fire safety awareness. The generous tier 1 sponsors, Krative and Webster Bank, along with our many other sponsors, have made this event possible and allow One Innocent Life to continue educating the public about fire safety.

About One Innocent Life: One Innocent Life was founded in June 2015 by Jeff Block, as a part of his ongoing campaign to spread fire safety awareness, particularly off-campus housing. The organization is dedicated to his daughter Eva and her two friends (Kerry Fitzsimmons, Kevin Johnson), who died in an off-campus house at Marist College, due to a lack of education about fire prevention. One Innocent Life is dedicated to educating college-aged students to be aware that while housing fires may be rare, they can happen, and they can be incredibly dangerous. Its goal is to have people take responsibility not risk.
