As Vice-Chair of the legislature’s Public Health Committee, Sen. George S. Logan on November 13 joined with state lawmakers in questioning authorities from the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services over concerns about the safety of patients at the Whiting Forensic Division of Connecticut Valley Hospital. The public hearing at the Legislative Office Building shined a light on the circumstances pertaining to multiple employee arrests and suspensions at Whiting – cases involving alleged patient abuse.
“One case of patient abuse is one too many,” said Sen. Logan. “That is why it is imperative that as the leaders of the Public Health Committee, we must find where the system of oversight has broken down and put procedures in place to fix it.”
There is an anonymous tip line at the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services for the public to report any issues of concern: the phone number is 877-277-9471.
