Spencer Rubin is a lifelong Woodbridge resident, attending the local public schools, graduating Amity Regional High School in 2009. Spencer was involved in many sports and was the Captain of the Amity Varsity Golf Team his junior and senior years.
As a golf lover, Spencer worked at the Woodbridge Country Club and later when it became The Country Club of Woodbridge. His career began at age twelve working as a caddie and later becoming the Outside Operations Manager.
Spencer earned his BS in Political Science from Southern Connecticut State University in 2013. He applied his degree working for the state’s largest government relations and political consulting firm, Gaffney Bennett Associates (GBA,) which is continually rated as one of the top firms of its kind in the state.
His experience at GBA led him to work on a top congressional election race in Connecticut’s 5th District. Subsequently, Spencer went on to work for The Connecticut House Republican Caucus as an Outreach Coordinator for State Representative Themis Klarides and 13 additional State Representatives from New Haven and Fairfield Counties. Currently, Spencer is Press Secretary for six state representatives helping them keep their constituencies in the know of all matters and issues impacting their local districts. As a hobby, Spencer volunteers for local elected officials and candidates during election campaigns providing strategic strategies and communications.
At an early age, Spencer learned the importance of giving back to his community. He joined the Republican Town Committee during college, and in 2013 was elected as an Alternate Member of the Woodbridge Zoning Board of Appeals. Spencer is also a Board Member of the Woodbridge Rotary Club and President-elect for 2018. Spencer also serves on the Connecticut Young Republicans Board of Directors.
