Achievements

Emerson College

Boston, MA – Gabrielle McGovern from Woodbridge, CT earned a spot on the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) 2022 Division III Women’s Tennis Scholar-Athletes Team.  Emerson College’s Women’s Tennis team had seven members included on the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) 2022 Division III Women’s Tennis Scholar-Athletes Team.  The Women’s Tennis team is also on the Division III Women’s All-Academic Teams list.  For ITA eligibility an athlete must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) for the current academic year.  To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, the team grade point average must be 3.2 or above (on a 4.0 scale), all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form and all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.  Gabrielle McGovern is majoring in Media Arts Production and is a member of the Class of 2024.

Dean’s/President’s List

Bryant University

Smithfield, RI – Bryant University is pleased to recognize the students who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to academic excellence and achievement.  To earn a place on the Deans’ List students must have a GPA of 3.4 or better for at least 12 semester hours of work.  Congratulations to the following Woodbridge students on this outstanding achievement:  Diego Rodriguez, class of 2023, and Daniel Carlson, class of 2025.

Champlain College

Burlington, VT – Annabel Kusnitz of Woodbridge, CT, has been named to a Champlain College Dean’s List for the Spring 2022 semester.  Students awarded honors based on their academic achievement.  Kusnitz is currently enrolled in the Professional Writing major.  The honors include:  Dean’s List – for achieving a 3.5 grade point average during the spring semester; President’s List – for achieving a 4.0 grade point average during the spring semester; and Trustee’s List – for achieving a 4.0 grade point average for two consecutive semester.

Clark University

Worcester, MA – The following Woodbridge residents were named to Clark University’s Spring 2022 Dean’s List:  Sage J. Johnson and Brynn B. Keevil were named to first honors.  Students must have a GPA of 3.8 or above for first honors.

Emerson College

Boston, MA – Gabrielle McGovern of Woodbridge, CT earned Dean’s List honors for the Spring 2022 semester at Emerson College.  The requirement to make Dean’s List is a grade point average of 3.7 or higher for that semester.  McGovern is majoring in Media Arts Production and is a member of the Class of 2024.

Endicott College

Beverly, MA – Endicott College, the first college in the U.S. to require internships of its students, is pleased to announce its Spring 2022 Dean’s List students.  In order to qualify for the Dean’s List, a student must obtain a minimum grade point average of 3.5, receive no letter grade below “C,” have no withdrawal grades, and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits for the semester.  The following Woodbridge students have met these requirements:  Meaghan Francis, Political Science, daughter of Betsy and Stephen Francis; and Tara Laugeni, Business Management and Marketing, daughter of Elise and Greg Laugeni.

Fairfield University

Fairfield, CT – The following Fairfield University students from Bethany received Deans List Honors for the Spring 2022 semester:  Timothy L. Amarante, Danielle Grosso, Alexandra Plaza, and Saunder L. Saffran.  In order to be placed on the Dean’s List, students must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours in a semester, have no outstanding or incomplete grades for that semester, and have attained a semester grade point average of 3.50 or better.

Goodwin University

East Hartford, CT – Renee Pascarelli has earned a spot on the Goodwin University Dean’s List for Spring 2022.  Renee, a student from Woodbridge, CT, is one of 924 students to make the Dean’s List, reserved for those who demonstrate great academic performance.  Dean’s List inclusion requires a student to earn a minimum 3.5 GPA, the equivalent of an A- average, during a given academic session.  The student must also be enrolled in a minimum of six academic credits to qualify.  Goodwin University congratulates Renee on making the Dean’s List and demonstrating such a high standard of excellence in the classroom and beyond!

Hamilton College

Clinton, NY – The following Woodbridge residents were named to the Dean’s List at Hamilton College for the spring 2022 semester:  Alexis Galinovsky, a May graduate, majored in economics at Hamilton and Brian Seiter, a rising junior majoring in history and public policy, is a graduate of Hopkins School.  To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must have carried throughout the semester a course load of four or more graded credits with an average of 3.5 or above.

Purchase College

Purchase, NY – Megan Ciarleglio of Woodbridge has been named to Purchase College’s Dean’s List for the Spring 2022 semester.  Ciarleglio is studying Graphic Design.  To be eligible for the Dean’s List, students must carry a semester GPA of 3.5 for Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science programs and 3.75 for Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Music Performance programs.  They must take a minimum of 12 credits.  Congratulations, Megan!

Quinnipiac University

Hamden, CT – The following area students were named to the dean’s list for the Spring 2022 semester at Quinnipiac University:  Taylor DeRienzo of Bethany, CT.  Woodbridge students named to the Dean’s List include:  Kevin Alston; William Hunter; Karalyn Kachmar; and Julia Turski.  To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 with no grade lower than C. Full-time students must complete at least 14 credits in a semester, with at least 12 credits that have been graded on a letter grade basis to be eligible.  Part-time students must complete at least six credits during a semester.

State University of New York New Paltz

New Paltz, NY – SUNY New Paltz is proud to congratulate Benjamin Lee of Woodbridge, CT, for being named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2022 semester.  Well done!  Dean’s List designation is reserved for students who excel academically and earn at least a 3.3 grade-point average in a semester with a full-time course load.

Tufts University

Medford, MA – Tufts University recently announced the dean’s list for the Spring 2022 semester.  Among students from Woodbridge earning dean;s list honors are:  Dana Estra, class of 2023; Sam Farbman, class of 2023; Ian Glassman, class of 2025; Tracy Lu, class of 2024; Henry Molot, class of 2023; and Siavash Raissi, class of 2024.  Dean’s list honors at Tufts University requires a semester grade point average of 3.4 or greater.

The University of Maine

The University of Maine recognized 2,951 students for achieving Dean’s List honors in the spring 2022 semester.  Of the students who made the Dean’s List, Lilly Morrissey of Woodbridge was one of the students named to the Dean’s List.  To be eligible for the Full-time Dean’s List, a student must have completed 12 or more calculable credits in the semester and have earned a 3.50 or higher semester GPA.  Students who have part-time status during both the fall and spring semesters of a given academic year are eligible for Part-time Dean’s List.  They must have completed 12 or more calculable credits over both terms and have earned a combined GPA in those terms of 3.50 or higher.

University of Maine at Farmington

Farmington, METhe University of Maine at Farmington proudly announces its Dean’s List for the Spring 2022 Semester.  UMF maintains a Dean’s List each semester for those students completing a minimum of 12 credits in courses producing quality points.  Students whose grade point average for the semester is equal to or greater than 3.8 are listed with High Honors.  Emma Marsh, High Honors, was named to the Dean’s List for Spring 2022.

University of New Haven

West Haven, CT – Kaitlyn Price of Woodbridge, CT, a student in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of New Haven, has been named to the Dean’s List for the Spring 2022 semester.  Kaitlyn is working on a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.

University of Wisconsin-Madison

Madison, Wis. – About 7,700 students received degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison on May 13 and 14.  Michael Taylor, Law School, Doctor of Law (Juris Doctor), Law graduated with the class of 2022.

Washington University in St. Louis

St. Louis, MO – The following Bethany students have been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2022 semester at Washington University in St. Louis:  Weixin Du graduated in May from the university’s College of Arts & Sciences and Jacob Silbert is enrolled in the university’s College of Arts & Sciences.  To qualify for the Dean’s List in the College of Arts & Sciences, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.6 or above and be enrolled in at least 14 graded units.

Western New England University

Springfield, MA – Woodbridge, CT resident, Alex Wyner, has been named to Western New England University’s President’s List for the Spring 2022 semester.  Wyner, who is working toward a BS in Computer Science, is one of over 250 students who achieved this mark of academic excellence.  Students are named to the President’s List for achieving a semester grade point average of 3.80 or higher.

Graduations

Brandeis University

Waltham, MA – Zachary Katz of Woodbridge graduated summa cum laude with Honors in Creative Writing from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts on May 22, 2022.  At graduation, Katz received the Yakas Senior Thesis Award for his screenplay entitled “Legacy.”  A double major in Creative Writing and Anthropology and double minor in Classical Studies and English, Katz was named to the Dean’s List at Brandeis all eight semesters.

Eastern Connecticut State University

Willimantic, CT – Hundreds of students graduated from Eastern Connecticut State University at the conclusion of the spring 2022 semester.  The University’s annual Commencement Exercises occurred May 17 at the XL Center in Hartford, CT.  The graduate-level ceremony occurred May 14 on Eastern’s campus.  Jolie Garcia of Woodbridge graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, and Nathaniel Urda of Woodbridge graduated with a Bachelor of General Studies degree in General Studies.

Fairfield University

Fairfield, CT – The following Bethany students graduated from Fairfield University, May 2022:   Timothy Amarante, Christopher Bierezowiec, and Thomas Nolan.

The following Woodbridge students graduated from Fairfield University, May 2022:  Sarah Carter, Katey Green, Stacey Hauben, Jillian McCants, and Leah Saulsberry.

At the time of graduation, a student must have earned a minimum of 120 credits and completed at least 38 three- or four-credit courses, depending on the course of study, and have an overall grade point average of 2.0 or better at the conclusion of the senior year.

Georgia Tech

Atlanta, GA – The Georgia Institute of Technology presented degrees to more than 4,500 undergraduate and graduate students during the Institute’s 262nd Commencement exercises May 6-7, 2022, at Bobby Dodd Stadium.  Among the graduates from Woodbridge were:  Thomas Barone, Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with High Honors and Erbo Xu, Master of Science in Computer Science.

Hamilton College

Clinton, NY – Alexis Galinovsky, of Woodbridge, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hamilton College on Sunday, May 22, in a Commencement ceremony concluding the college’s 210th year.  Galinovsky majored in economics.

Quinnipiac University

Hamden, CT – The following Bethany students received degrees from Quinnipiac University during commencement ceremonies held in May:  Michael McGurrin, Bachelor of Arts in Communications; and Felicia Thomas, Master of Science in Public Relations.

The following Woodbridge students received degrees from Quinnipiac Univsersity during commencement ceremonies held in May:  Karalyn Kachmar, Bachelor of Arts in Graphic and Interactive Design; Karalyn Kachmar, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science; Alyssa Rubano, Bachelor of Arts in Law in Society; Nancy Theinert, Master of Health Science/Cardiovascular Perfusion; and Helen Zhao, Doctor of Medicine.
