Incumbent Candidate, Board of Selectmen
Susan Jacobs has been a member of the Woodbridge Board of Selectmen since 2011. She serves on the Ordinance Committee and is or has been liaison to the Library, CCW and Police Commissions.
Previously, Susan served as an elected member of the Amity Board of Education from 2007 to 2011, where she served as Chair of the Finance Committee, and of the Woodbridge Board of Education from 1993 to 1996, where she served as Chair of the Facilities Committee and Ad Hoc Regional Education Committee and as a member of the Building Committee for the Kindergarten Wing addition.
Susan was a co-founder of the Woodbridge Child Center and served as its General Counsel from 1990 to 1992. She served as an appointed member of the Inland Wetlands Commission from 1992 to 1993.
From 1998 to 2000, she served as Chair of the Town Library Building Committee, and she was the Democratic candidate for First Selectman in 2001.
She and her husband Stephen Skowronek have lived in Woodbridge since 1986 and have raised two sons who graduated from the Amity school system.
Susan maintains a solo law practice specializing in non-adversarial mediation and collaborative divorce. She is co-president of Divorce Solutions of Connecticut and a member of the Connecticut Council for Non-Adversarial Divorce. Her past practice areas included residential and commercial land use, including zoning, administrative law, and environmental law. She is a Certified Mediator and a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, as well as the Association’s Family Law Section.
Susan earned her B.A. from UCLA, attended the College of William & Mary’s Marshall Wyeth School of Law summer program at the University of Exeter in England, and graduated with her J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles.
Since 1992, Susan has also been a performer with B’nai Jacob Players Community Theater, where she has played leading and supporting roles in numerous musical and non-musical productions. She also enjoys tennis, gardening and cooking.
