Volunteering Runs In Families: The Grotheer Family

The Grotheer Family – Audrey, Jeanette, Laurence & George

Volunteering runs in families, that’s what one had to conclude after the most recent Volunteer Tea sponsored by the Human Services Commission. Many of those honored at the event had a family member previously honored.

Such was the case with Audrey Grotheer, a junior at Amity High School, who volunteered in several functions at her school and also helps her mother with the Youth Evening program. Audrey has also volunteered her time sorting food in the Human Services food closet. She enjoys math and has been tutoring younger kids. She also volunteers at Amity High School as a peer tutor and has volunteered at many programs at the Woodbridge Library, most notably Crazy Eights Math, Boredom Busters, and Teens and Kids Reading Together.

Both her mom, Jeanette Glicksman, and dad, Laurence Grotheer, as well as brother George are active in town, volunteering in different capacities. “The reason I volunteer is because I want to show them that I care,” Jeanette said.
