Woodbridge Aquatic Club Completes Successful Championship Season

Woodbridge Aquatic Club (WAC) completed its most successful long course season under Head Coach Dave Reilly. Over the past three weekends, WAC has participated in the CT Senior Open Championships, the CT Long Course Regional Championships, and the CT Long Course Age Group Championships. From July 9-12, five WAC swimmers competed in the CT Senior Championships. From July 17-19, 43 WAC swimmers competed at the CT Long Course Regional Championships. For the 12 and under age group, WAC swimmers captured a total of 10 first place finishes. At the 13 and overs Regional Championship, WAC claimed a total of four first place finishes, including first in the Boys 13-14 200 Meter Freestyle Relay.

From July 24-26, 22 WAC swimmers competed at the State Championship level at the CT Long Course Age Group Championships. WAC had a total of 19 ‘A’ Final swims over the course of the weekend, and captured 7 first place finishes: Kate Alvarado (15 -18 yo girls 100 and 200 meter butterfly), Kevin Yanagisawa (13-14 yo boys 400 meter freestyle) and William Zhu (11-12 yo 50,100, and 200 meter freestyle and 100 meter butterfly). Ten WAC swimmers qualified to go on to compete at the Eastern Zone Championship in Richmond, Virginia from August 5-8.
