It’s that time of year when municipalities prepare and vote on their budgets, then set new mill rates. Knowing the current mill rate for Woodbridge is 37.66 I was curious how it compared to others. I checked the CT.gov website for current mill rates published by the Office of Policy and Management and I was shocked! Little old bedroom-town Woodbridge has one of the HIGHEST mill rates in CT.
There are only 17 municipalities whose mill rates are higher outright: Bridgeport, E. Hartford, Hamden, Hartford, Manchester, Naugatuck, New Britain, New Haven, New London, Norwalk, Norwich, Stamford, Torrington, Waterbury, W. Hartford, West Haven, and Wethersfield.
Certain districts only in the following towns are also higher: Bloomfield, Enfield, Meriden, Middletown, Simsbury, and Windham.
What does this say about Woodbridge’s spending? How did this happen? I guess we residents have been sleeping. I hope we wake up before the new rate is set.
