“Farmer Steve’ Munno is deeply committed to making a difference. With extensive experience, a strong focus on inclusivity and kindness, and a passion for community, Steve is well-prepared to serve as a member of the Board of Selectmen, making Woodbridge an even better place for all its residents.
Steve's journey in Woodbridge began in 2009 when he was hired to breathe new life into the Massaro Farm property, a vital community asset. Over the years, Steve has continued his dedicated service at Massaro Farm, where he now serves as the Executive Director. His work at Massaro Farm has exemplified his commitment to fostering a sense of community and sustainability in Woodbridge.
Alongside his work at Massaro Farm, Steve is a devoted family man. He and his wife have two children, one of whom is currently attending Beecher Road School, with another set to start there next year.
Steve's educational background is equally impressive. He is an alumnus of Wesleyan University, where he undoubtedly gained the critical thinking and problem-solving skills that have served him well in his roles as a community leader. Furthermore, he holds a Certificate in Ecological Horticulture from UC Santa Cruz, showcasing his expertise in environmentally responsible farming practices, and a Certificate in Climate Change and Health from the Yale School of Public Health, demonstrating his commitment to public health and its relationship to the environment.
Steve Munno is not just a leader in Woodbridge but also a regional advocate for sustainable farming and ecological practices. He is currently serving on the board of the Connecticut chapter of the Northeast Organic Farming Association (CT NOFA), a role he has held since 2012. His leadership qualities and dedication to the cause have been further exemplified by his tenure as Board President from 2018 to 2023. His involvement in CT NOFA demonstrates his passion for sustainable agriculture and the promotion of eco-friendly farming practices, values that align closely with Woodbridge's commitment to the environment.
Beyond his service on the CT NOFA board, Steve has been a driving force within the Woodbridge community itself. He has been a key member of the Woodbridge Agricultural Commission. His knowledge and expertise in farming and agriculture have been invaluable in shaping the direction of local agricultural policies and practices. Steve's contributions have helped ensure that Woodbridge remains a place where agriculture thrives and is sustainable.
