Children’s Programs

Children's Havura, K-2 Kehila, and Junior Congregation, all led by parent or grandparent volunteers, meet each Saturday, including during the summer.  For more information, consult Education Director Annie Norman-Schiff at anormanschiff@beki.org.

Tisha Be-Av

BEKI observances for the fast of Tisha Be-Av on August 12 & 13 will include Eichah (the Book of Lamentations), sad songs, and reflections on hopelessness.  Details at beki.org.

Teen Planning Day

BEKI’s USY group for 7th-12th graders will hold a Leadership Mini-Retreat on Sunday, August 25.  USY's board leadership is inclusive, and all area Jewish teens are welcome to help plan the year’s events and volunteer projects.  No prior experience is required.  For more information, consult anormanschiff@beki.org.

Woodwind Concert

Elm City Winds, a woodwind quintet that performs both classical and popular music, will return to BEKI for an indoor concert on Sunday, August 25.  Jennifer Silva, flute; Caesar Storlazzi, oboe; Laura Caruthers, clarinet; Adrienne Gallagher, bassoon; and Emily Fine, French horn, will present pieces by women composers, including introductions to the pieces to provide historical and musical context.  Admission is free.  Donations will be accepted to support the National Women’s Law Center.  Details at beki.org.
