First Church of Christ, Bethany, Hires New Music/Choir Director

First Church of Christ, UCC at 511 Amity Road in Bethany, CT (Bethany First Church) has hired Greg Wilfrid as music and choir director.  His first Sunday at the church was July 23.  Greg holds a B.M. and M.M. from the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford, where he also earned his Kodály Certification.  He spent fifteen years serving at First Church West Hartford in various roles - most recently as their Assistant Music Director.

Greg presently teaches General Music and Choir at Louis Toffolan elementary school in Plainville, CT., and is also the director of a town-wide jazz band.  Greg has presented at Music Education workshops and conferences at the Collegiate, State, Regional, and National levels and performs regularly around the area with the Traditional Celtic folk group, “The Jolly Beggars,” who have recorded four albums together since 2010.  He regularly performs with the “Jolly Roger” a Traditional Celtic folk band from Connecticut on guitar, tenor banjo, mandolin, and vocals.  In addition, he is a solo singer – songwriter and performs traditional folk music all around Connecticut.
