Beecher Graduate, 8th grader in Amity Middle School Bethany Won Writing Awards

Eric Chen, a Beecher graduate and 8th grader at Amity Middle School Bethany, won first place in the Junior Paper category in the National History Day Contest New Haven Regional Contest on March 23rd. He will advance to the Connecticut Contest on May 5th. He also won two awards in the 2024 Scholastic Art & Writing, Connecticut Writing Region on March 29th. HIs short story The Marks on the Wall won the Gold Key and has been automatically advanced to the national level of judging in New York City. His novel writing, Cube, won the silver key.
