Bread & Torah with Rabbi Rona Shapiro

Shabbat Morning: 9:00 AM – 9:45 AM

Rabbi Shapiro will be teaching Mishna Berachot, which deals with the subject of blessings—how and when to say them. The mishna is a compilation of oral traditions recorded around 200 CE to preserve Jewish teachings as Jews went into exile.

Learn about a range of assistive and smart home tech solutions that can help you and your loved ones live as independently as possible. Amy Rubin Mindell, the Director of Community Outreach & Assistive Technology at Living Without Limits, has over 35 years of experience helping to develop innovative programming in this field. She will examine some of the common household and health barriers to independence and address a range of solutions. 

Gospel Shabbat

Congregation B’nai Jacob, along with the Greater New Haven African American Historical Society; the Jewish Historical Society of Greater New Haven; The Towers of New Haven; Shoreline Soul; Valley Soul; and the Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven/Jewish Community Relations Council, are pleased to be celebrating the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. together at the 4th Annual Gospel Shabbat service featuring gospel music and dinner. CBJ Kids - Shabbat School

CBJ Kids brings families together to celebrate Jewish traditions through fun, engaging, and educational programs. Shabbat School offers an opportunity for children to explore Jewish life, learn about Shabbat, and connect with friends in a warm, welcoming environment.

The Aish Kodesh (Sacred Fire) Book Group with Rabbi Rona Shapiro

Monday, January 27, 2024, 7:30 PM – 8:30 PM

Explore the sermons of Rabbi Kalonymus Kalman Shapira, delivered in the Warsaw Ghetto, which focus on cultivating faith and resilience amid unrelenting suffering. This course addresses the relevance of these teachings in today’s challenging times. No prior experience is necessary, and texts will be provided in English and Hebrew. Free for members; non-members $100.
